(20-26) The final passage of play sees Ireland claim a line-out and Ireland work the ball well until O'Brien crosses the line to put further gloss on a disappointing result in a paradoxical kind of way.
78'
Ireland still going and have a penalty from their endeavours as the game nears its conclusion.

The scoreline looks a little more respectable now.

(13-26) Try for Ireland. Fitzgerald picks up a knock-on from the French and charges for the line before cutting back inside just as he looks to have the legs on Trinh-Duc but he is held up. Ireland get quick ball out to Sexton who crosses the line from about a metre or so.

Ireland move the ball wide before Sexton bursts through a gap but is eventually dragged into touch five metres from the line. France win the line-out before fashioning Trinh-Duc an opportunity to clear their lines. Earls does well to keep the ball in play but Ireland's handling lets them down again as France regain the ball.
70'
Great burst from O'Driscoll there and Ireland go through the phases before Heaslip is bundled into touch.

O'Gara for Gordon D'Arcy

Ireland run the ball well but fail to get quick ball from the scrum less than 10 metres from the line and are penalised for holding on. And therein lies the big difference between these two sides: France have been clinical.

Ronan O'Gara getting ready to come on. Flannery and Ferris for Jennings and Best.

Jones now knocks on. Very disappointing stuff from Ireland.

France defending their 22 very well. Ireland work a four on three but the pass to O'Driscoll is behind him and into touch.
58'
Ireland going through the phases well and making good ground.

Subs: Reddan and Court for O'Leary and Healy.

France bring down the scrum.

Ireland beginning to run the ball well again now as the home faithful cheer them on. Sexton switches the ball from right to left and Earls collects the bounce of the ball before being forced into touch. France win the line-out but Ireland look to turnover the ball and have the penalty for French holding on. Ireland elect to take the scrum. Quick ball key here.
54'
A raft of substitutions from either side.
