Conor McGregor has pulled out of his comeback clash with Michael Chandler at UFC 303 after suffering an injury.
UFC president Dana White broke the news on Thursday night, before announcing a new main event of Alex Pereira against Jiri Prochazka for the light heavyweight title in Las Vegas on June 29.
McGregor, 35, was preparing for his first fight since breaking his leg in a TKO loss to Dustin Poirier in July 2021, but he has been forced to withdraw from a contest for the first time in his iconic career.
"Conor McGregor is out of 303 vs Michael Chandler with an injury," said White.
"The new main event is Alex Pereira, former not only UFC middleweight champion, he is also the first and only fighter to win both middleweight and light heavyweight titles in UFC history.
"He also did it in the shortest amount of time, he did it in 736 days and seven fights.
"He is facing former Jiri Prochazka, who has an unbelievable 23 first-round wins.
"It has been a crazy week here at UFC, that is the new lineup for UFC 303, I will see you guys in Vegas."
White also added two more contests to the UFC 303 card, with Diego Lopes set to face Brian Ortega and Carlos Ulberg scheduled to take on Anthony Smith following Jamahal Hill's injury.
McGregor has a record of 22-6, but the Irishman has lost three of his four fights since a blockbuster boxing match against Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2017.
The event in Las Vegas was on track to help set a new record for the UFC, with an expected live gate of more than $20,000,000.
