England failed to hold on to their first-half lead as their World Cup semi-final with Croatia went to extra time.

Ivan Perisic’s clever volley cancelled out Kieran Trippier’s early free-kick as the Croats suddenly became the dominant force in a nervy contest in the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow.
Perisic then struck the post with a low effort as England started to crumble, but Gareth Southgate’s side hung on – just – to make it to the end of regulation time level.
