Torino v AC Milan - Serie A result, Torino see off Milan comeback to keep European dream alive

Each side is looking to play but there's just a lack of space at the moment between two well-drilled units. Torino have had more of the ball in the danger area but Milan enjoyed the most dangerous moment, when a Linetty slip allowed Christian Pulisic to loose a shot that was blocked just in time by Adam Masina.

It's ultra-casual by Milan and Sportiello but he just about gets away with it. The keeper slid out to gather a bouncing ball on the edge of the area but went too far and had to lift his arm as if he were scalded to avoid a handball. Not a moment too soon either.

It'd be interesting to see a scattergraph showing the amount of time taken to prepare a free kick versus the likelihood of it slamming into the wall. That's what happens here, as Ivan Ilic's carefully crafted routine goes nowhere before his follow-up is high and wide.

Karol Linetty has got his retaliation in early on Yunus Musah, catching the midfielder in a game of no chances so far.

That's not stopped the home fans immediately striking up a lively tune on the terraces.

Tonight is quite simply a head-to-head between the most and least entertaining teams in Serie A. Milan's 36 games this season have produced 115 goals while Torino have only seen the ball hit the net 65 times in their matches. Something has to give!

They'd certainly be a side to avoid in the UEFA Europa Conference League given their mind-numbing goals-per-game ratio at both ends of the pitch.

Victory tonight would see Torino jump Napoli for ninth, which would be good enough for European qualification IF Atalanta and Fiorentina win their respective continental finals...

With the UEFA Champions League places effectively already decided and the Scudetto itself long since wrapped up, the main fascination to round out the season is the relegation battle, with a mind-blowing seven sides at risk of the drop alongside the already condemned Salernitana. We'll see about the second part, but it does at least appear to be a beautiful spring day in Turin as the Serie A season draws to a close. Torino have a sniff of something to play for, but are relying on heavy favours from their compatriots if tonight's game is to mean anything.

But it would be a shame to waste such a lovely Saturday, and we will at least see a fascinating clash of styles with Milan one of the highest-scoring sides on the continent and their opponents fantastically obdurate.
