Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag praises two-goal hero Scott McTominay after Brentford win

Manchester United secured a dramatic late victory against Brentford in the Premier League when Scott McTominay came on in the 87th minute with his team trailing 1-0, and then scored twice in the next 10 minutes to secure all three points. Speaking after the match, the Dutch manager praised the midfielder for a contribution that earned a win that would give "fuel to the dressing room".

'If you can't handle the pressure don't play here' - Ten Hag in warning to United players

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag said that Scott McTominay's match-winning cameo performance against Brentford on Saturday showed the club is "everything in his heart".
United appeared to be heading to another disappointing result in the Premier League as they trailed Mathias Jensen’s 26th-minute strike for most of the match.
Ten Hag threw on Scott McTominay in the 87th minute for his sixth appearance of the season, after he had fallen down the pecking order following the arrival of Sofyan Amrabat and Mason Mount.
It took the Scottish international six minutes to level, and then he popped up in the seventh minute of stoppage-time to grab a dramatic 2-1 winner.
That win takes the pressure off the Dutch manager going into the international break, and he will hope that the injury problems at Old Trafford relent before the club campaign restarts.
Speaking after the match at his press conference, Ten Hag said of McTominay: "You see he is Man United in everything in his heart, he is playing for the badge, he gives his life, when you are coming on and do this for the team it says a lot.
"These games give fuel to the dressing room. In football it is eat or get eaten. Too many times in the first half of this season we got eaten by opponents who are more hungry. This can't be. Every player has to deliver that in every second he is on the pitch."
Speaking to Premier League Productions after the match, McTominay was delighted, saying: "That might be one of my favourite moments on a football pitch. Two goals at the death was incredible, but I am just happy to be able to contribute and show people that I can do it."
He described the three points as "massive", adding: "Everyone knows we are in a difficult period at the minute, but we have fighters in the group that want to keep going right until the end.
"It could have been anyone on that pitch scoring the two goals. I'm really pleased and hopefully we can build on that from here.
"Sometimes we feel like we are in our own bubble with people outside only saying negative things, but we just have to block that out and be better after the international break."

Brentford boss Thomas Frank rued a “brutal” ending to the match.
"Football is brutal in moments like this,” he said. “I think we did so many things right, coming here to Old Trafford, an almost perfect first half, pressed high, good on the counter and well deserved lead.
"Of course, second half, you know you will be put under pressure here. I actually felt like we defended it very well, and didn't give any big chances away... well until the third minute of injury-time.
"Then, of course, to lose the game is even more brutal. At least a draw was probably a fairer reflection."
