CHELSEA CONFIRM EUROPEAN FOOTBALL
Moises Caicedo scored an incredible goal from the half-way line as Chelsea cemented their position in European football next season with a 2-1 victory against Bournemouth on the final day of the Premier League season.
Chelsea started the game on top by threatening Neto’s goal numerous times including Nicholas Jackson whose shot was well saved at the near post. As Bournemouth began to play themselves into the game, Sterling was put through only to find Neto charging out and clearing to Caicedo. The Ecuadorian proceeded to lob Neto from forty-nine metres out and scoring the Premier Leagues longest goal since Wayne Rooney against West Ham in 2015.
The second half started franticly with Sterling putting Chelsea two goals ahead before that was immediately cancelled out by a Bournemouth break resulting in a Badiashile own goal.
Chelsea through good saves and defending including an incredible block from Connor Gallagher were able to hold onto the lead. The Europa Conference League is now confirmed for the Blues who end the season with five successive wins in Pochettino’s first season in charge.
Focus now shifts to another transfer window and the beginning of the 2024/25 season.
