Obviously City's defence is still a joke. Guardiola has no time for stones but not choice but to pick him so does, while Cancelo and Mendy are his choice as full-backs. With Bernardo Silva suspended for the frankly miserable tweet he sent about Mendy, David Silva plays. Phil Foden does not, naturally.

So let's do a bitta team-inspection.

It’s pretty tricky to see City losing this. Chelsea have the quality to out-quality most teams in the league, but they don’t have anything like what City have and don’t have a defense good enough to get them out of that insoluble bind. On top of that, their best players are decent but not elite. They might make a chance and score from it but I can’t see a way they disappear the remaining 89 minutes. I am often wrong.

This is an extremely sizeable encounter. City simply cannot afford dropped points if they plan to win the league again - hell, if they fancy coming second - while Chelsea need to prove though don’t just lose every time they play a half-decent time. AND IT’S LIVE!
