Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney starts after serving a three-match suspension. Midfielder Jesse Lingard (knee) remains sidelined, but Antonio Valencia starts after recovering from a hamstring problem.

Manchester City midfielder David Silva misses Sunday's derby after being ruled out for around three weeks with a knee injury. Fellow midfielder Yaya Toure starts despite being withdrawn during Wednesday's Capital One Cup loss to Newcastle amid concerns about a groin problem. Former England midfielder Frank Lampard is absent with a thigh injury but playmaker Samir Nasri is on the bench after making a successful return in midweek from groin surgery.
