Silva swings in a free-kick from the left and Negredo thumps a header at goal - but it's straight at Krul, whose reaction save keeps it out.

Chance for City! Neat one-two between Nasri and Silva allows the Frenchman to cross for Negredo. The cross is not dealt with by Anita and Negredo, on the half turn, fires over.

City sub: Navas on, Dzeko off. Looks like Silva is moving across to the left, with Toure pushing up.
52'
Jesus Navas is warming up for City.

There's a fantastic atmosphere inside St James's Park for this second half. There's a real belief the home side can get themselves level.
50'
Chance for Newcastle as Remy opts against a left foot shot and tries to cut back onto his right, allowing Kompany the time to get back and make the challenge.
49'
Tiote is booked now. Catches Yaya Youre late and that's a needless one for Tiote.
48'
Anita has a go from distance after Fernandinho failed to clear, but Hart hangs on well.
47'
The City players were booed back onto the field here. You could say there is a hostile atmosphere at St James's Park now.

SECOND HALF. We are back underway.
45'
HT Newcastle 0-1 Manchester City. Dzeko's goal divides the sides at the break, but all the talk is about Tiote's disallowed goal. Newcastle fuming, and rightly so.
44'
Pardew and Pellegrini are having a bust up on the touchline now. Maybe half time would be best for everyone.
43'
Zabaleta takes one for the team. Trips Sissoko as Newcastle were breaking; clear yellow.
42'
Newcastle have done really well since going behind and deserve to be on level terms, at least. Half time coming at the wrong time for them.
41'
Newcastle have had 80% possession in the last 10 minutes.
40'
By the way, there were two Newcastle yellow cards amid the furore. One for Cabaye and one for Sissoko - each for dissent.
39'
Yelow for Fernandinho, who is booked for a late challenge on Taylor.

What was your view of Tiote's disallowed goal? Should it have stood or not? Tweet me @mjdasilva

Silva lashes just wide. This game has certainly sparked to life now.
36'
Pardew cannot believe it. Unless it took a touch of Gouffran on the way in, which is doesn't seem to have done, then there is no reason why that should have been disallowed. The Newcastle players are still talking to the ref about this. I suspect we haven't heard the last of this.

Huge controversy here! Tiote has an absolute thunderbolt of a goal disallowed for offside. Replays show three Newcastle players were offside when Tiote struck it, but were any of them obstructing Joe Hart's view? No, and St James's Park is rightly enraged by that...
