I can't imagine Pardew is going to be in a pleasant mood this evening. But, controversey aside, what is it about Wigan and the end of the season?

Alan Pardew is, understandably, absolutely livid on the sidelines.

Massive controversy,. Figueroa handballed an inswinging corner as it came into the area, and Newcastle failed to deal with it properly and Kone needed no second invitation to smash home from point-blank range.

GOAL FOR WIGAN! Never write Wigan off. Kone latches onto the ball after a goalmouth scramble and Wigan are ahead.

CHANCE FOR NEWCASTLE! Shola Ameobi breaks down the left for Newcastle and his cross is met by Cisse, and Roubles seemingly makes a superb save to divert it wide. A goal kick is given though, prompting some rather unflattering chants about the officials from the Newcastle faithful.

The tempo has died down slightly here as both teams look for a key opening. Wigan have looked more likely to make something happen most recently but so far it hasn’t happened.

Tiote is robbed by McCarthy in midfield and he feeds Maloney on the left, and he cuts into the area but his cross is blocked by a Newcastle shirt and hacked clear for a throw.

Cheick Tiote down briefly after a knock but he’s fine to continue. It’s been a bruising encounter at DW Stadium this afternoon.

Maloney seems to stand over it for an age before stepping up and curling it goalwards, but Elliot gets down to make the save.

And Wigan’s goalscorer will make way for Di Santo, who scored in this fixture last season.

Franco Di Santo is readying himself on the sidelines. Perch brings down Beausejour on the edge on the area and Halsey awards a free-kick just outside the area for Wigan.

Marveaux nearly puts Shola Ameobi through with a delicate chip forward but it is just too far ahead the striker, and he knocks it out for a goal kick.

Cisse could have put Newcastle ahead there, a ball across the area looked destined to fall at his feet but it was just a fraction behind him. It’s all Newcastle at the moment.

Hard match to call now. Both teams have had their fair share of chances.

The ball was given away cheaply by Wigan and Cisse – who has had a forgettable afternoon so far – found Santon with a perfect pass and the Italian showed great composure to fire past Roubles from the edge of the area. Game on.

GOAL FOR NEWCASTLE! Davide Santon with the goal. His first goal for the club has levelled proceedings and the away fans are going bonkers.

CHANCE FOR WIGAN! It’s substitute McArthur, who collects the ball at half way and advances, but curls wide of the goal under pressure from Taylor on the edge of the area. Will these misses prove costly for Wigan?
