David Moyes: "I don't think we'll strengthen in January. I don't think we'll be looking to do any business - not because we wouldn't want to but I just don't think we will have the resources to properly do it in January."

I asked about him to see if he would come to Reading, but at that time he was 17 and was £7 million so we were nowhere near it. David Moyes is a great manager and he has done it at this level for a long, long time and proven to be one of the great managers. I have done two or three years as manager and my record, up to the last 10 games, has been okay."

Thomas Hitzlsperger makes his first start for Everton since joining in October. Striker Kevin Mirallas is absent with a hamstring injury while midfielder Darron Gibson sits out a 10th successive match with a thigh problem. Forward Victor Anichebe (hamstring) and defender Tony Hibbert (calf) are also out.

Reading winger Jimmy Kebe misses out with a tight groin while goalkeeper Alex McCarthy (shoulder) and midfield duo Danny Guthrie (thigh) and Jem Karacan (knee) are also out.
