@TheJoeSawaya thinks Ferguson should keep things the way they are and introduce Kagawa and RvP on the hour mark, while @_JakeWade_ believes United need their Dutch gamechanger on straight away for the start of the second half. @Aziziamirlah reckons Kagawa should be on now with RvP on in the 7th minute. Half-time! It's goalless at Old Trafford, and United have edged the possession with 56 per cent of the ball. The hosts have also missed a penalty, with Javier Hernandez's tame effort saved by Ali Al Habsi, although there was little or no contact from the keeper on Danny Welbeck in the first place.

Buttner clatters into Kone, and he can have no complaints about being shown the yellow card. It was a reckless challenge.

Two minutes will be added at the end of this first half, as Welbeck receives treatment on the touchline.

Welbeck goes down inside the Wigan half, and he slowly gets to his feet rather gingerly. All eyes on van Persie, once more...

United, with the exception of the penalty, have not had the best of this first half, with Wigan missing a few big chances with Ramis and Kone left to rue their efforts.

What a chance for Kone! Wigan break at pace and Beausejour whips over a quite magnificent cross from the left which evades Ferdinand, but Kone fluffs his shot at the back post!

Hernandez has been pretty subdued so far this afternoon, and that penalty miss will not have helped. Welbeck remains the main threat.

United continue to press forward relentlessly from halfway, and Giggs is the driving force at the moment as he looks to inspire his side.

Beausejour flies down the left at pace once more, and he's looking very good indeed from full back. He wins a corner for his side.

Kone is furious with the referee as he and Ferdinand jostle for the ball, and again it goes the way of the hosts.

Nani zips in behind the Wigan defence with a fine run, but he tries to be too clever as he chips over the bar, not testing Al Habsi.

Beausejour feels hard done by as he and Rafael tumble over deep inside the United half, and the decision goes the Brazilian's way.

The home fans begin to get a little frustrated with Wigan's possession, and Scholes fouls Maloney with a typically shoddy challenge!

Wigan continue to stroke the ball around, this time at the back in their own half. United are sitting off and allowing them to keep it for now.

Wigan keep the ball very effectively as the visitors enjoy a good period of possession in the United half.

Ramis and Caldwell are among those who come up for the corner as Wigan end up taking it short, and the set piece is rather wasted as Maloney overhits his cross.
