Some lovely work from Maicon down the right as he drives forward before firing an effort at goal. Howard just manages to deal with the swerving effort.

Dzeko finds Silva in space down the left. The Spaniard pulls a dangerous ball back across goal but nobody in a City shirt is there to meet it.

Better from Everton as Pienaar links up well with Baines before looking for the run of Fellaini but he just fails to find him.

Silva picks out Zabaleta on the left with a lovely pass. The full back finds Tevez in the area but the Argentine heads well over.

City are really starting to impose themselves for a sustained period in this game for the first time. Everton being forced deep into their half.

Hibbert tries to find Fellaini from the right but he overhits it. Everton need to be a little less wasteful in possession.

Everton are really struggling to get the ball out of their own half since the restart.

Baines tries to pick out Jelavic with a quick free-kick but Hart does well to react and claim the ball.

It is City with all the pressure now as Maicon sends in a poor ball that is cleared. Dzeko tries a long-range shot but it is blocked.

That's twice in the space of a few minutes Tevez has nearly caught out both of Everton's centre backs.

Jagielka gets caught in possession by Tevez but luckily for the Everton man it goes out for a throw.

Gibson takes aim from the edge of the box for Everton but his effort sails well wide. Never troubling Hart.

Distin does well to just outmuscle Tevez to the long ball over the top and clear. For one moment it looked like the striker had beaten him to the ball.

Nasri tries to force his way down the right following the one-two with Yaya Toure but he eventually loses it. Unlucky.

The first half ended in enthralling fashion. Let's hope we can see more of the same in this half.

It is City with the early possession as Barry plays in Tevez but the striker is unable to get his shot away from inside the box.

Tevez takes out Osman with a late challenge. The Everton man looks in the wars again. He's alright though.
