Not meaning to jinx it, but it's no surprise these two team can't score from what we've seen today. Swansea seem reluctant to take a shot first-time and Wigan are so deep it's unreal. You'd think they'd push out when at home against Swansea.

Wigan's midfield is dropping into the penalty area when Swansea attack. They really need to push-up if they want to repel this pressure.

Caldwell plays a long ball towards Sammon, but he's up there on his own and Caulker and Williams deal with it easily.

Swansea are getting in their groove now while Wigan are dropping deeper and deeper.

Dyer and Graham link-up and Dyer has a shot which deflects off Figueroa for Al Habsi to smother. Dyer had a great chance to shoot a bit earlier when he was in plenty of space on the 18 yard line.

Swansea really don't like to play it long, do they? They've just been passing it around their penalty area trying to get forward.

And in an instant, Swansea take control the game. A few misplaced passes from Wigan and Rodgers' side can ping the ball around the pitch with ease. Wigan have dropped deep and seem to be inviting the pressure.

Wigan are doing very well to press Swansea and if they can find that killer pass, the ace final ball, they could do well today.

That was the first real action from Swansea in this game, they're struggling to get the time on the ball they so famously enjoy.

Gomez gives the ball away in midfield and Swansea come forward. They're far to slow to catch Wigan on the break and Boyce clears. Seconds later, Sinclair plays in Danny Graham but the former Watford man is flagged offside.

Alcaraz wins a corner for Wigan and it's taken short for Gomez to float a cross in. It's heading towards the back post but Vorm punches clear.

Beausejour has had a lively start here, he's looking like a very dangerous outlet on the left wing.

Di Santo breaks well and spreads it out left to Beausejour whose cross is good, but caught by Vorm.

It looks as though Wigan are playing a 3-5-2 when attacking today, not a formation you see a lot of in the Premier League. With Figueroa as a wing back though, it can easily become a 4-4-2.

Wigan have a corner and it's a poor one from Beausejour as Swansea clear very easily.

Swansea kick things off at the DW Stadium, can the home side win here for the first time in nearly six months?

It's not just Martinez who crosses the Wigan-Swansea divide. Striker Scott Sinclair spent a season-long loan deal at Wigan while at Chelsea and of course there's Jordi Gomez who took the trip from Wales to the north west along with his manager.

Brendan Rodgers refuses to admit his Swansea side are safe from relegation despite their impressive debut season in the Premier League: "We are not jumping the gun. People are saying we are safe with 12 games to go, but we have a lot of work to do and we need to make sure we keep collecting points."

The Wigan boss is a bit worried about the state of the pitch at the DW Stadium: "We want a really good pitch because we base our work on what we do with the ball, and the ball needs to roll well. But the pitch is becoming a bit of an excuse for other teams. I think the pitch is the same for both teams, you have to adapt to it. There's nothing we can do with the weather conditions we have and obviously it's difficult for the groundstaff."

Roberto Martinez faces his old club today. If the law of the ex-player means they always score, does this mean Martinez will lead his Wigan side to a much needed three points?
