Rodallega holds off Koscielny superbly and looks for the onrushing N'Zogbia with a square ball...Squillaci intercepts.
32'
Marouane Chamakh is muscled out of another challenge by Alcaraz. The Frenchman has hardly seen the ball so far. Usually he's a player who can mix it with any centre-backs, but he's not asserted himself at all so far tonight.
31'
Alcaraz hits the free-kick long to Rodallega, though Koscielny is there first.
30'
A few spicy challenges are flying in now, though everything is still just about legal, until Sagna scythes down Thomas - that is. Thomas had only just come back on the pitch, and is already in the wars again!

Thomas is back on his feet now, and trudges slowly to the touchline. He should be okay to continue...though just as I type that he seems to be headed for the tunnel too. We'll see if he re-emerges. Meanwhile, play recommences.

An Arsenal substitution already. Wilshere is on for Diaby. I think that may well be an injury, as Diaby has disappeared off down the tunnel.
27'
Fine defending from N'Zogbia to halt Arshavin in his tracks, though Thomas then brings down the Czech midfielder, and Arsenal havea free-kick in the Wigan half. Thomas caught an elbow in the face making that challenge, and is now receiving treatment.
26'
Squillaci aims a long ball at Chamakh, but he can't hold it, and Alcaraz clears.
24'
Arsenal are getting their foot on the ball a little more now, though Wigan still look confident and happy to attack the Gunners.

Arshavin swings in a corner for Arsenal, Al-Habsi punches clear, the shot comes back in from Rosicky, Al-Habsi saves low but can't hold it and Koscielny rushes in for the rebound...Al-Habsi finally gathers at the second attempt!
22'
Halfway through the first half, and it's looking as though Arsene Wenger may live to regret those eight changes he made. So far, his side are being outplayed, and could easily be two goals down.

Fabianski comes flying from his goal and brings down Rodallega!!! Wigan scream for another penalty...NOT GIVEN!!! That was a big call! To be fair, Koscielny had beaten Rodallega to the first ball, but Rodallega may well have got to it to keep it in play had he not been clattered by Fabianski.

GOAL!!! Fabianski guesses the right way, but the spot-kick from Watson is a superb one, smashed right into the corner! Wigan lead 1-0!

PENALTY!!! Koscielny brings down N'Zogbia just inside the area, and Watson has the chance to give Wigan the lead! Silly challenge! It was only centimetres inside the area, but you can't really argue with the decision.

Eboue stands up a fine ball for Arshavin at the far post, only for the Russian to fluff his volley. he was on the stretch, to be fair.
15'
Arshavin looks for the run of Chamakh with a clipped ball in behind the Wigan defence, but the Frenchman wasn't expecting that. Al-Habsi claims.
14'
Arshavin with the corner - awful delivery. It was hit straight along the ground to the defender at the near post.
13'
Bendtner hits the free-kick himself...and it deflects off the end of the wall and out for a corner.
11'
After a passage of play in which both sides surrender possession far too easily, Bendtner is brought down by Caldwell right on the edge of the area. This is dangerous.
10'
Wigan boss Roberto Martinez can be very happy with the start his side have made. They look the far hungrier, and could easily be 1-0 up.
9'
N'Zogbia drives in a low shot from distance - routine save for Fabianski.
