The Zidane era is under way at Real Madrid, and in emphatic style. Bale was exceptional, as was Carvajal - and in truth, there weren't many in white who were anything less than that level. The Benitez reign has been cast aside. Welcome back, Los Blancos.
FULL-TIME: Real Madrid 5-0 Deportivo La Coruna.
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Real Madrid 5 (90 mins - Karim Benzema) Deportivo La Coruna 0. It just isn't happening for Ronaldo! He should have scored a tap-in, his shot is blocked - but it falls kindly for Benzema to smash home off the underside of the bar!
IT'S NOT RONALDO'S NIGHT! Marcelo beats his man and fizzes a low cross to the near post, but Ronaldo pokes a finish over the bar under pressure from Lux. Unlucky.
HOW DIDN'T HE SCORE?! Perez and Alberto passed their way through a packed Real Madrid box, but just as the latter looked set to score Pepe came across to make the intervention.
James was someone who didn't find his best form under Benitez, even after his injury, but he has looked lively tonight since coming on. He has been given the freedom to play as he wishes.
Real Madrid actually have a reasonably comfortable run of games for Zidane to start as manager. Maybe that's why the decision was made to get ride of Benitez now. Easy induction.
Ronaldo is still charging around in an effort to find the net. He has had his chances tonight, and has actually played quite well, but the pieces just haven't fallen for him in the box.
What a terrible decision from the linesman! James found Ronaldo at the back post with a great clipped pass over the top, but the Real Madrid number seven was flagged for offside. He wasn't.
Zidane must be pleased with what he has seen from his team tonight. They have been very productive in the final third and have looked more like the Real Madrid side of old.
The third goal right at the start of the second half really killed off this match as a contest. Deportivo La Coruna have struggled to make much of an impression in the final third since then.
ACROSS THE FACE OF GOAL! Modric plays the ball into Ronaldo instead of shooting himself, but the number seven slides his effort right across the face of goal and wide of the far post.
NAVAS IS CALLED INTO ACTION! Kroos loses the ball about 25 yards out from his own goal, giving Alberto the chance to shoot. But the Real Madrid goalkeeper pulls off the stop.
Jese has been handed the last 10 minutes or so of this game by Zidane. The winger hasn't had much in the way of first-team football this season. This is a chance to impress.
Bale comes off to a standing ovation from the Bernabeu crowd. He has been excellent this evening. It's not so long ago that the Real Madrid supporters were booing the Welshman!
Real Madrid sub: Gareth Bale OFF, Jese Rodriguez ON.
GREAT BLOCK FROM CARVAJAL! Perez picked out a teammate inside the Real Madrid penalty area, but the right-back came across to make the challenge on him.
