    THE STATS SO FAR
    • Shots: 1
    • Fouls: 9
It's tense. Scotland have 75% possession so far, but they aren't doing much with it.

    WE'LL BE HONEST...
...as first quarters go, that wasn't the most electric. Just that one Gunn save and plenty of sterile Scottish possession to report.

    MCGINN WINS FREE-KICK...
Well played John McGinn. He charges down a clearance on the touchline and wins a free-kick on the right wing, about 12 yards from the byline. A good start from the Villa captain.
But Robertson's delivery can't get past the first man, and we're back to some slow possession...

    CROSS TO NOWHERE
McGinn backs into his man in typical fashion to protect the ball, and swings in a cross...but it's over McTominay and out for a goal-kick.

    HENDRY ALERT
Hungary look to go direct and the pass looks dangerous for a moment, but Hendry just nips in ahead of Varga to make an important interception.

    STYLES BOOKED
Barnsley man Styles is the first name in the referee's book after a rash slide tackle on McGinn at halfway.

    SIMPLE FIELDING FOR GUNN
Szoboszlai has a free-kick just inside the Scottish half and Scotland set up their defensive line very high, which helps Gunn make an easy catch.

    NERVES KICKING IN?
Just as we say that, Hungary get their first real spell of possession in the match. Not much doing, though. It's quite a nervy start, to be expected from two teams knowing they need a win.
    11'
    HUNGARY GAME PLAN
Hungary look happy to sit deep, let Scotland have the ball and look to hit on the counter.
And so far it's worked reasonably well - they've had the only early chance and the Scots are struggling to get through the bank of white-shirted defenders.

    GUNN MAKES THE SAVE!
Robertson's delivery is headed clear and Scotland have to build again. Ralston puts another ball in and that is cleared too, leaving Hungary to surge on the counter.
The first shot of the game comes from Bolla, who hits one from range that tests Gunn as he parries it before gathering the headed backpass.

    SCOTLAND WITH ANOTHER SET PIECE
McTominay is chopped down 10 metres into the Hungarian half. Another chance to launch a ball in the mixer...
    5'
    SCOTLAND ON THE BALL
Scotland having all of the ball early on. Not what some expected with Hungary needing to win tonight. They are yet to find anything resembling a defence-splitting pass though...
    3'
    SCOTLAND FREE-KICK
Scotland with an early spell of possession and McGinn wins a free-kick midway into the Hungary half...
It's swung in by Gilmour, but headed clear and there was a foul in there anyway.

    WE'RE OFF!
Hungary get us kicked off - at the second time of asking after a retake - and they are attacking the Scottish end in this first half.

    SINGING THEIR HEARTS OUT
I'm not crying, you're crying. That was a real goosebump-raising rendition of the Scottish anthem. Kick-off moments away...

    ANTHEMS COMING UP
This should be good if the last rendition of Flower of Scotland was anything to go by...

    CAN HISTORY REPEAT ITSELF?
Here we go, how about this - we’ve cherry-picked a couple of stats to try and bolster Scottish hopes…
    • Although Scotland have won just two of their 11 Euros games, both came on matchday three - in 1992 v CIS (3-0) and 1996 v Switzerland (1-0).
    • Hungary have only won one of their past 17 games at major tournaments against European nations (D5 L11), a 2-0 win over Austria at Euro 2016.

KEEP AN EYE ON THE OTHER GAME
We've got a separate live blog up and running for Switzerland v Germany which will, of course, determine who wins the group.
Or even if Scotland can leapfrog the Swiss into second...but let's not get ahead of ourselves!

    ROBBO'S READY
The teams have left the pitch after their warm-ups, and now an army of groundsmen are poking around with pitchforks on the pitch. I think that's the technical description.
Kick-off isn't far away now as we prepare for the pre-match ceremony and anthems.
