30'
GOOD FOOT IN
Ratiu, he of the banter blue hair dye, gets a foot in to concede a corner just as Doku threatened to go past him into the area. From the corner, Doku wallops a shot at goal from a narrow angle, which Nita theatrically palms away.

ROMANIA STRUGGLING
They just can't get hold of the ball here. It's some way off, but they could use half-time here.
27'
SLICK STUFF
A quick fire one-two between Castagne and Tielemans sees Castagne free in a good crossing position on the right. His ball in is disappointing to say the least, as Burca steps in to clear.
24'
ALMOST THROUGH
Romania break from a Belgium corner, as Tielemans fails to cut out a ball to Mihaila down the left. Mihaila can shift, and is away; he cuts in and across the face of the area, but as he shapes to shoot loses his footing and Vertonghen nicks the ball away. Romania had players over to the right, that was a promising chance.
23'
LINKING AGAIN
Doku tries a one-two with Lukaku in the area, and it almost comes off until Dragusin gets a timely foot in to prevent a shot. That ball seems on all night for Doku.
20'
OOF!
Tielemans clatters Razvan Marin, 30 yards from goal on the right. That should probably be a yellow, but Marciniakis letting everything go so far.
18'
BELGIUM PUSH
They're in control here. De Bruyne breaks forward and feeds Lukebakio, who is free in the area on the right. Lukebakio could hit it first time but cuts back inside and curls one, which Nita palms wide for a corner.
16'
AS THINGS STAND
Early days, but if this result holds all four teams in the group will be on three points.
13'
CHANCE!
Doku finds Lukaku to feet in the area once more. Lukaku bounces Burca to the floor, spins and shoots; the shot catches the prostrate Burca and goes out for a corner.
11'
DOKU ON THE RUN
Doku backs up Ratiu into the box. He fakes to shoot and lays off to Tielemans on the edge, whose shot is smothered this time.
9'
CRUNCH
Marius Marin dumps Lukebakio to the floor on the touchline. Strangely, there's no free kick; this game is so open and it's being allowed to run so far.
7'
A TOUCH CALMER
Things settle down a touch after a frenetic start. Faes hits De Bruyne over the top and into the area, but his control is poor and it runs through to Nita.
4'
GOOD SAVE!
Romania come flying back and win a corner. Eventually it's worked to Marius Marin in the left, and he lofts it into the box. Dragusin gets a glance on it, and Casteels tips it over at full stretch.
2'
GOAL! BELGIUM 1 (TIELEMANS 2) ROMANIA 0
What a start - after just 75 seconds, Belgium lead! They come flying out of the traps and win the ball high, with Doku finding Lukaku to feet in the area. Lukaku touches it off to Tielemans on the edge, who crashes a low drive past Nita. That's a beauty of a goal!

PEEP!
We're underway in Cologne!

ANTHEMS
Both have been belted out with gusto, and kick-off is just around the corner.
19:53
TUNNEL VISION
Both teams are ready to go here, and step out in to the RheinEnergieStadion. A quick two-word review of the atmosphere in the ground: absolutely bouncing.
19:50
GLORIOUS NIGHT
As the sun fades it's still a bright and humid out in Cologne; conditions look absolutely perfect for football.
19:44
LUKAKU DEBATE
In the ITV studio Ian Wright, Karen Carney and Ange Postecoglou are running the rule over Lukaku. He had a tough first game, missing big chances and having two goals chalked, but he's still Belgium's greatest ever goal scorer. Ian Wright's point - that he should tighten his game up and become a box centre forward in his thirties - seems a sage one to me.

ELSEWHERE TODAY
Group F is starting to take shape now. Portugal lead it and are through to the knockout rounds after a 3-0 win over Turkey, with group leadership secured; Turkey are two points ahead of both Czechia and Georgia, who drew 1-1 in the opening match of the day.

SURPRISE PACKAGE?
They arrived in Germany with little fanfare, but after an opening round whomping of Ukraine this Romanian side are on the brink of the knockout rounds. A win tonight would make it certain, and they’re on a great run with just one defeat in their last 16 matches. With a nice blend of experience and youth, their head coach Edward Iordănescu looks to have put together a team that could surpass all expectations this summer.
