One of the world's greatest ever players will be back in action at the latest edition of the European Championships as Cristiano Ronaldo features in the Portugal team looking to win the competition for the second time. The Al-Nassr forward's influence is expected to be key despite his advancing years as he looks to add to an enviable record he already has at the tournament.

How many European Championship goals has Cristiano Ronaldo scored?

Cristiano Ronaldo scored his first European Championship goal and first international goal for Portugal in a 2-1 group stage defeat to Greece at Euro 2004.
He scored his second in the same tournament in the semi-final win over Netherlands.
At Euro 2008, he scored his only goal of the tournament in a 3-1 group stage win over Czech Republic.
Four years later, he scored a brace in a 2-1 group stage win over Netherlands as well as the winning goal against Czech Republic in the quarter-finals.
At Euro 2016, Ronaldo scored twice in a 3-3 group stage draw against Hungary before the opener in the 2-0 semi-final victory over Wales.
Hungary were once again his victims at Euro 2020 when he scored twice in a 3-0 win. He added another to his tally in a 4-2 defeat to Germany and another brace in a 2-2 draw against France. These goals took him to 109 international goals, at the time levelling with Ali Daei who had held the record.

In terms of most goals in a single tournament, Ronaldo’s haul of five at Euro 2020 is some way behind the record of nine scored by Michel Platini for France in 1984.
