Andy Robertson insists Scotland still "have a firm belief" that they can reach the knockout stages of a major tournament for the first time. Steve Clarke's side are in trouble at the bottom of Group A following a 5-1 thrashing by hosts Germany in their opening match of the tournament. Ahead of their second game against Switzerland, captain Robertson is calling on Scotland to play without fear.

Robertson wants Scotland to ‘play to our strengths’ against Switzerland

Scotland might not be in a win-or-bust stage of Euro 2024 just yet, but captain Andy Robertson admits they have to "show up" against Switzerland to have any chance of reaching the knockout stages.
Steve Clarke's side were thrashed 5-1 by Germany in their opening game of the tournament on Friday.
It leaves them bottom of Group A with just two games to play.
The manager has admitted his side "let ourselves down" in that performance, while skipper Robertson says his side played with "fear".
"The other night wasn't easy," said the Liverpool full-back. "We came up against a really good team, didn't show up how we wanted and got punished for it.
"Maybe we had a bit of fear. Maybe the occasion got to a couple of us. A couple of us didn't have our best games. We didn't do what we did to get to the tournament.
"There were a lot of disappointed faces. But we moved on. We can't dwell on it. We weren't pointing fingers at anyone.
"We need to show up, play to our strengths and do better in pretty much every area."
Defeat against the Swiss might not spell the end of Scotland's hopes of reaching the last-16, although it would leave things looking pretty bleak.
There are four places in the next round for the best third-placed finishers.

‘We let ourselves down’ - Clarke frustrated by Scotland’s mauling by Germany at Euro 2024

But given their already poor goal difference, it will be a huge struggle to get through should they be beaten.
The Scots have never reached the knock-out stage of a major tournament, failing to get out of their group in eight World Cup appearances and three previous European Championships.
But having come through a group that also contained Spain, Norway and Georgia, Robertson is determined that his team-mates show everybody what they are capable of.
"We know what we have to do differently," he continued. "Maybe people on the outside don't hold much hope for us but we have a firm belief we have quality in our squad.
"We showed that in the qualifying campaign. Hopefully tomorrow people will see the Scotland we believe in.
"It's a fantastic tournament. We want to enjoy it as much as we can. We've got two games left to stay in it."
